was good, got to use my yak board in some decent surf, a few of the waves knocked me clean off, georgieb was witness to that, having a good old laugh on the sidelines ;D ;D ;D managed to ride a couple of good waves all the way in too, its an amazing feeling, the yak board handled the surf well, but its not too stable if a wave hits you side on when your not looking, whitch was good because it got me used to using the paddle as a stablizer, theres a lot to learn but you soon pick it up after getting chucked off a few times ;D ;D

martin did well as you would expect. Although we joined him i did not take the frenzy because at the last minute we thought getting soaked wouldn't be the smartest thing because we were planning a long evening fishing on north shore-llandudno. However there are a couple of points i would like to make.
1- Penmaenmawr as a kayak practise venue. Vast amount of space, safe as it goes with these things, deep enough water but also shallow enough to stand up in 100 meters or more out ( at low and a couple of hours after), then deep enough close in on clean sandy bottom for other forms of safety practise. 100 metres or more of surf with the wind moderate and onshore.
2 - Being a surfboard, no keel, it was interesting to see how quickly it turned and it was quick, but i also got the feeling it turned over fairly easily as well (if side on). Saftey first - Although we were there as onlookers, martin was on his own kayaking. Even though he was practising and playing with his yakboard not on a major trip, he was fully equiped - VHF, flares (the expected kit). All credit to him.
