After all the fuss it was a doddle and far easier and safer than most of the day kayaks I've been on. Mirror calm conditions in the bay and so quiet that all we heard was our paddles in the water. Outside the bay was a smooth swell. Johns plans went good in that we had the tide with us on the way out and with us on the way in. Anchored up near the reef and were plagued by doggies. I even tried fishing 3 meters off the bottom and I still got them. Then I tried trolling a Dexter Wedge and had a hit straight away and it was big but lost it on the retrieve when I put down my rod to secure my paddle. John tried same and had a large pollock. Night kayaking was awesome and safe (certainly safer than fishing from rocks at night). Visibility was good even in the dark and we were always within 40 meters of the shore. Nice to see the dawn come up at sea. The silence and atmosphere was indescribable and what sea angling is all about. As usual at sea, there was no 'true' darkness like you get inland but that bluey semi darkness that you often associate with dawn but this was 3am. Excellent session and definately want to do it again.

Glad to hear it all went well, got to admit the thought of fishing at night being new to the sea seemed a little daunting but it just goes to show that good planing an d common sense go a long way. EXCELLENT hope to see you all soon

Some things that are safe look daunting (like night yakking) and some things that are dangerous look safe (like yakking with wind off the land). Dave and John certainly looked like they enjoyed it and for me it was easily the best yak I've had so far.
