Me and Melissa visited Colwyn pier to jig feathers and had tons of mackerel in minutes. The sea is heaving with them there at the moment. Fished a reef not far away and had loads of school bass which went for lures of every description. Some big beauties were leaping out of the water chasing whitebait but we couldn't tempt them with lures or bait. Tried a whole mackerel and something took it and ran with it and gave me enough problems that I ended up cutting my line but it wasn't a bass as it was long and brown.

I've had a 15lb bull huss before and it pulled downwards giving a bigger than normal thump (like conger) but this fish shot off in a horizontal direction taking line off my reel.
