What a great first paddle. Im going to make this short and sweet because ive just put the yak on the roof and im off out for voyage number 2. Big thanks to Terry who has hellped me out with the boat and accserorys and also taught me how to use the yak (Top bloke). Also big thanks to georgeb Ray and all the other lads that were down for you tips and advise. I did find it hard going paddleing up from the orme back to shore and im glad you lot were there, think i would have had a wet suit full of the brown stuff if you hadnt, it just seemed like i was going nowhere when infact I was. I learnt a lot from the nite and one of the major points I picked up is the importance of rigging an anchor system, as george was telling me at the end not just for the fising but for safety, when you can drift that fast an anchor is a must. Im already thinking of mods I can do to the yak and I think im gona have great fun hiden away in the garage during the winter months drilling holes and screwing stuff in (but thats not to say I wont be yaking durin the winter). Any way enough of this yak yaking (do you get the tearfully terrible pun) off out for another play the weather is perfect out there and a again big thanks to the lads especially Terry and hopefully be out fishing with you soon ;D

I've got the incriminating flicks Ray. Appologies to all for the late posting been tied up with kids stuff ever since and something else which i have posted at the end of this report. Thank you all for a great evening out - alan and kevs fishin' tales bringing a brilliant end to the night. - Following on from zebra's report some ruffians turned up at little orme before the wind wound the sea up. Kev decided on an ocean space walk (it was good safety practise really) In the drink he went We were in a fairly strong W tidal stream and stregnthening NW wind- so the boats with their greater volume exposed to the wind were moving away from Kev faster than he could swim to them. He made it in the end but he also helped demonstrate an important point. and now he's back in the boat Here is the man himself and well in charge of his boat- in the end given the conditions, he had one hell of a first trip out. After a fishing session - Kev hooked into a stray play- tyre -appologies in advance for the picture quality) on a different subject - here is a pic of zebra's luminous discs on the side of his boat - a demo of how effective they are in fading light. Almost finally - Zebra's new wheels in action Now finally - i am sorry about this late post many things have delayed me over the last 2 days not least my freind turning up this evening having returned from a week away kayaking and fishing in pembrokeshire- just a few metres off shore slightly rocky areas nothing that all the yakers on this site couldn't handle with ease - his easy catches were 6-12 lb Bass/ 6-12 lb Pollack/ big Plaice/ more Mack than you can shake a rod at/ shoals of bream just under the boat - and a 10lb Turbot - all caught on lures. I am heading south soon- going to make it a holday for the family. I thought it also maybe an idea for a kayak fishing weekend away -the fishing seems to be almost untouched in some places. I've got the marks and the campsites. How about a weekend away in pembroke?

Hello all,
Sorry for the lack of communication lately I should hopefully be up for a few days away and by the sounds of Georges post (above) it should be first class fishing down that way. P.S. could Kev, Terry and George please PM me their contact numbers as I have lost them all due to new SIM card for phone (my number's still the same though).
Cheers for now, Steve

I mentioned earlier about a freind who had a very productive time in Pembroke last week. For those who might be interested this steel sandeel was the lure that caught all the fish including the 10lb turbot by jigging the lure slowly over the seabed for that one. Surface poppers and various divers were tried but no takes. Only this lure caught on this ocassion.

I'm off to Saundersfoot in a couple of weeks time for my annual trip with the wife and kids, the lure could be a great help, what's it called and who makes it, otherwise I'm going to follow Zebra and start cutting up the cutlery SM

Sorry aint been posting this weekend but aint been near a computer. Went out for voyage number 2 on fri afternoon. Thanks to Terry for ringin me up on saturday just incase I had floated off to Ireland ;D. Nice to know people are lookin out of the safty of other yakers . Launched by the washington on the prom in Llandudno and it was just a mess about session really a few of the lads that are thinking of buying yaks came down for a go and all all of them went off with a big smile on there face and are now busy saving hard to get one themselves. When I finally managed to grab a go my self I paddled out in to the bay and did some capsize drills. I was flipping the yak complety and after reading martins capsize thread I was using the scupper holes firthest away from my body to flip in the correst way. Also had a little go with some shrimp rigs to no avail. At the end of the session I paddled over to the end of the pier and back (the power boats that run trips from the prom put the wind up me a bit so I think a VHF is a must when there are things like that wizzing about. All in all a good little session to get used to the yak. Will hopefully be out again towards the end of the week and defo next weekend. The peace and quiet of the yak carnt be beaten

One for starvin- save your marriage and the cutlery which i'll bet cost more than the lure will. Its a cebar type/ german syou........ (i was trying to type german s-p.r-a-t -but the forum word monster wouldn't allow it) - there a various versions. Try this : www.waderson.com/store/7064-Cebar-Lure.htmlbest of luck
