The time has come and there is now enough cash on the card to start looking a yaks. Im looking to get a prowler 13 and was wondering where was the cheapest place to buy the angler edition. Ive just been on the phone to deva marine and have been quoted £520 for one and they say they no longer chuck in a free paddle . Does any one Know anywhere that is doing them cheaper bearing in mind I could collect from deva and if I bought it from much further away i would have to add postage on top. Thanks hopefully see ya on the water soon ;D

There might be somewhere well worth trying. Offered a 10% discount if you mention the site. See below.

Ray ill drop in to dicuss prices and to see what ya getting in . Ive been looking at a caper angler today at the watersports shopo on the road on the way to phwelli. They are doing he caper with free padle for 469. Was thinking that the caper will be easier to get on and off the car on my own and maybe a bit more fun in the surf than the prowler. Any one own a caper? What do u reckon lads caper or prowler in confused help

I have pm'd you mate, i would go for the prowler rather than the caper see the reasons in my pm, dont settle for the first boat you see because its cheaper

Caper is the same shape as the Drifter. Its just a smaller version. I reckon Martin will tell you the Prowler will track better in side winds and currents it will be easier to paddle. He is very correct as I find the Drifter a bit of a beast to paddle at times. Only reason I got the Drifter was to accomodate my XXL build. Hope it helps.

Congratualations on your new P15 - its a great kayak my friend paddles one and its good for distance work.
The overhang should not be too bad. I have a Scupper Pro which is slightly shorter then the P15 and the overhang is minimal on my 306.

Thanks Specimen. Which 306 do you have 3 or 5 door and which roof rack do you use. Trying to make up my mind weather to go for halfords own or the thule. Theres a few on ebay as well. I want one that isnt going to scratch my car roof. Any advise appreciated

I have a 3door 306. My roof rack is a Halfords one. Cost about £55 last year (I think I bought under offer on their discount day). Works fine - Thules were over twice the price but hey you get the logo with them

Not worth paying the extra for the Thule Rack, i bought the Halfords one & fitted it in approx 5 mins. Never had to touch it since.

Congratulations rzaskar- your avatar is right- a nicebig green boat (the bass won't see you comming now and the seals will think your a floating island -only joking) -welcome to the world of big creditcard bills - you only live once like martin says- there'll be no problem spotting you flying down the 55. I thought you mentioned on an earlier post something about buying a radio next but it seems to have gone. Before you do ask for advice on radios from forum users and their different experiences. I am preparing a post on this subject which i hope to have ready this week (doing a photogallery for it). All is not what it seems with these bits of kit especially so-called submersibles- within 1 year i am on radio No: 3. Hope you post a report of your maiden voyage.

Cheers GeorgieB. Its goin to be a slow process of building up kit as and when I can afford it as I already got credit card bills coming out my rear end (mostly due to fishing gear or related activities). Looking forward to the vhf report reckon this will be the first thing that I buy. I have a pentax optio underwater cam so I wont be scared of takin loads of pics off the yak and im sure ill be posting them up here (a picture says a thousand words and all that). Goin to do a few capzize drills and get used to paddleing etc to start with then when the novelty of getting wet has worn off I will hopefully start to use it for the real purpose FISHING. There is so much terrain in North wales to explore I carnt imagine anywhere better for a yak

Hi everybody I am delivering rzaskar’s prowler to him Thursday eve at about 6 ish at Llandudno north shore at the little orm end . I will have my camera with me to catch the moment and a few of the new kayak trolleys if any body wants to come try one or see the launch of rzaskar may just bring a set of feathers for a quick fish as well .but mostly I hope to get rzaskar set up right and get him on the water with a few safety drills and pointers as well so if your available come along and say hello it would be great to have a small get together and maybe a few other yakers for an hour or two .

Nice 1 Terry. Should a laugh watchin me fall off and paddle around in circles ;D. Ill bring a rod along with a dexter and sum feathers. Will standard 11ft spinning rods be okay off the yak or will they be a bit of a mare to cast off it. Carnt wait till thurs. I know at least 6 other lads that intrested in getting yaks. Ill give them a go of my new beast over the next few weeks and hopefully they take the plunge too ;D

Can I put my name on the list for thursday - will clear off fishing whilst you both go through the essentials (and help out as well) - it will end up a great evening out- no doubt- especially for rzaskar. Bring on them wheels you've been making terry- there wont be much water in the sea on thursday 6.00pm. As for the 11' spinning rod- i have the same and the main problem is not in using it - it is in situations where you may need to re-thread the line through the rod and tie on new end-gear. Its probably best to experience the problems yourself to decide then how you will deal with it in future- for me a spinning rod 2' shorter would be perfectly managable- but for others it will be different. Like rzaskar- cant wait.

I am sure it will be a great evening out terry- this is going to be rzaskars special night - and he's going to love it - but this may also be a good opportunity for others who may not have had sufficient time in the past to practise their safety and rescue techniques- come on down if you can - 6.00pm llandudno-thursday.
