I am off to turkey for 3 weeks, on sunday, so a little bit of fishing was my plan ,saves sitting on the beach , can't stand sitting about catching the rays Anyone been or done abit of fishing whilst on holiday and also is there any species to stay away from when handling, taking a telescopic travel rod and my fly stuff, hopefully pictures to follow, when I get back, or may even suprise you and get them online in an internet cafe

Not flicked fluff in Turkey but have tried in Rhodes last year. From the shore the only sizable fish you are likely to encounter (during) the day are Mullet. There are Bass and Bream about but the local fishermen scoop them all up at around 6 inches . Apparently if you can get off shore there is a chance of Albacore, Blue Fish Dolphinfish, and Barracuda. I suggest you have a look at this site if you have not already done so the guys are very helpful. www.medflyfish.com/Kevin

Hello fella I went to Cala dor in Mallorca a couple of years ago, i packed a shoe box with everything i thought i would need except my rod. I thought i would buy a cheap one there but guess what the only thing i could buy was a 3 foot kids rod, cant tell you how miffed i was, hundreds of shops selling everything from buckets and spades to flippers and not one cheap decent sized beach or spinning rod so yes take a telescopic to be on the safe side.
John ;D ;D ;D
Happy hunting
