I know there is a lot hype surrounding the chug-bug style surface poppers (rightly so since they work so well), but what are peoples thoughts on any alternative lures that work well on the surface? By mistake i found that Storm Shallow Mack floating divers work well on the surface. With a really slow retrieve they wiggle along nicely and the beads within give off a nice rattle too. It has worked for smaller bass and also pike in freshwater to 10lb. I think ive unfairly tested it though, as havent given it many hours usage. Photo to explain what i'm waffling about: Its just under 5" long and casts relatively well, not sure of weight though. Dylan

I use the rapala skitter walk lure in silver and red head, top results for bass, they hit it so hard on the surface. Once u master the walk the dog technic, its a doddle and u can make the lure do all sorts, good method, and it works

Small pumps of the rod tip will get ya surface lure danceing and zig zaging like a good un Walking the dog has to be one of the most exciting ways to catch Bass, nuthin does it more for me not even even a hot leg-e blonde has the same thrill factor ;D

How have you done with it for Bass ? i havn'tried it for them yet Only a few smaller bass (2 or 3lb), but as i said, haven't used it for long either, so i think it has good potential. will be testing it more this weekend as i have a little time to play with.
