Hi Adam, Was out spinning and mack bashing yesterday Friday, on the prom in Colwyn Bay. The sun was hot and no catch but the spinning was better than just watching a rod tip. I was spinning for mack and if the odd bass can along then it would have been a bonus. Neither turned up but there was a follow from something big about 50 feet out it went for a cheap light weight lure and jumped about 3-4 feet clear of the water. Spent the rest of the time trying to get it but nothing. God it was a big fish maybe a big bass but think more like a sea trout. Would have loved the fight off it either way!
So to answer your question YES a big yes. Set up the beach rod and spin at the same time, unless big walk then go light.
Try dexter wedge, abu, toby or a home made rig if after fun with macks and these will also get bass etc. Otherwise the usual stuff for other types

depends what you are going for mate. try for mack's while they are in and you my get a bass or 2 The bass will prob be following the macks under them so its a good chance of either. the macks will be easier tho. Spin anywhere you fancy rocks, beach even Colwyn Bay produces. Don't be afraid to try anything and see what happens Try diff movements of the same lure / spinner and watch what it does in the water. The trick is to get it to act natural, either bait fish or injured fish and then it will be taken. Clever fish like bass will not go for it if it is a strange thing...... i.e if it not natural it will stay away from it. Attack fish will even go for stuff just cos it moves past them (big bass) because it triggers the attack mode of the fish. Read the posts on here and try what YOU think will work or think how the fish see it and you may be on a winner
